Jamaica enjoys typical Caribbean weather with temperatures in the 80’s and 90’s by day and in the 70’s by night. Winter is usually warm by day and mild to cool by night, and summer months are hot. The rainy season extends from May to November, with peaks in May, June, October and November. Rain usually falls for short periods (normally in the late afternoon), and it’s quite possible to enjoy sunshine for most of your visit during these months. Hurricane season is from 1 June – November 30.

Transportation – This can be a bit pricey. Route Taxis (US $3), Knutsford Express : US $17 (Ocho Rios to Montego Bay & Ocho Rios to Kingston), Knutsford Express : US $22 (Ocho Rios to Negril)

The main tourcist kiosk is on Main Street across from Taj Ma Hal Shopping center. There is also a Tourist Product Development Company office in the Ocean Village Shopping Center.
The main tourist attraactions are Dunns River Falls, Dolphin Cove, Blue Hole and Mystic Mountain.
Runaway Bay – 30 minutes, Montego Bay – 2 hours, Negril – 3 1/2 hours, South Coast – 4 hours, Port Antonio – 2 hours, Kingston – 1 3/4 hours.
The main tourist attractions in Ocho Rios are in close proximity to each other (Dunns River Falls, Dolphin Cove, Mystic Mountain). You can hire a JUTA van to take you around. There are also numerous tour companies that can take you on various trips. If you are feeling adventurous you can use a route taxi.
Electricity is essentially the same as US: 110 volts, 50 cycles (US is 60 cycles). Converters are not necessary for US appliances. Flat two- and three-pin plugs are in use.
Yes most banks have ATM machines. The ATM will dispense Jamaican dollars and some ATM such as the ones by Scotiabank on Main Street will dispense US Dollars.
The currency of Jamaica is the Jamaican Dollar. The Jamaica rate of exchange changes daily. It is best to change your currency into Jamaican money when you arrive in Jamaica. You will get the best exchange rates at Cambios.
The main shopping areas are on Main Street, Ocho Rios. Two of the main shopping plazas are Taj Mahal Shopping Center and Sonis Plaza. Both shopping centers are on Main Street in Ocho Rios.

Water in Jamaica is usually safe to drink right from the tap. All drinking water in Jamaica is purified and filtered by the most modern methods. If preferred, you can buy bottled Jamaican spring water from local stores, hotels and restaurants.
